Chiropractic combats the effects of job-related stress

Whether in Glasgow, Scotland, or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, workers are experiencing unusual job-related stress due to the current economic conditions, as noted in this article in Scotland’s Daily Record:

ANXIOUS employees are desperate to keep themselves fit for work amid growing fears of losing their jobs during the deepening recession.

And a Glasgow chiropractic clinic has revealed a boom in business as a result of worried workers taking advantage of his practice’s skills.

Dr Adam Smith, of Glasgow Chiropractic in Newton Mearns, has seen a rise in clients as the recession continues to bite deeper into finances.

He said: “In the current climate everybody is concerned about their job and where their next pay cheque is coming from.

“So, the common concerns that people have in terms of lower back pain, neck pain and headaches are all things which people can take days off work for.

“There is quite a high proportion of the population suffer from back pain at some time in their life, about 80 per cent, but we’ve found more people coming in with stress-related issues….

“So part of our job, as chiropractors, is to not just assess the nervous system and make sure the link between the brain and body is working efficiently, but also that these messages from the brain to the body are the best quality they can be.

“If you think about it, if you are sending out negative thoughts and emotions to your body all the time then, no matter how good the link is and, no matter how little interference there is to that process, you are sending out negative thoughts.

“So the body turns them into negative, physical processes as well. Kind of like a computer only being as good as the person who programmes it, then your body is only as good as the thoughts you have.”
